Mid-week Check-in: Dread

ROW80LogocopyYup…you read that right. Dread.

Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration but really, I haven’t been looking forward to this check-in. I have not written a single word since last Thursday. Not one. Boo. 😦 I don’t really have a good reason except that I’ve felt less than inspired. I’m not sure if it’s because I have another story that keeps creeping into my mind and distracting me or if it’s that I really don’t know where to go next with my current story.

Maybe I can just blame everything on the snow…ya?

Promise of the week: I will not blame the snow. I will attempt to write at least 1000 words before Sunday.

On the bright side, I have managed to keep my blog up to date and I’ve also spent a lot of time reading. I guess it’s not been a total loss.

Well, off I go then…I’d better write something.

Until next time…stay away from the snow!! 😀

  1. No staying away from the snow – it’s everywhere!

Have you considered writing the story that keeps presenting itself? Often, I find answers for the story I’m “stuck” with, by writing others.

Or maybe you just need some down time…

    1. I know. Staying away from the snow is impossible. What was I thinking?? 😉

I have thought about putting this story away for a while but I really wanted to get the plot out first. Once the first draft is done, I’ll move on to the other story. I managed to write 500 words just now so I think it’s a matter of applying myself. 🙂 Thanks for the suggestions.

      1. So happy you’ve got words coming again!

I tend to have characters who will not wait their turn patiently. I’ve written them four stories in the last week, because they ‘re not willing to wait until May, when I’m giving them a story every day!

  2. Jot notes about the other story down to get it out of your head rather than switch perhaps? I’ve been stuck also and even forgot to check-in yesterday. Haven’t gotten much writing done, just a lot of thinking about what might happen next.

    1. Well, I guess sometimes we need time to mull things over. I’ve been so set on driving the plot through and figure I can do the thinking later. I really don’t even want to take notes on the other story because I’m afraid I’ll get too caught up in it. I just keep pushing it away.
